Where are you in God's Time?

First let me begin this month’s article by telling you that I am a woman of faith, have taught it, preached it and lived it for over twenty-five years. With all my heart I believe the Word is true and the stripes Jesus took on His back were for my healing and for yours. Yes, sometimes even though we may have the faith to believe for our healing, it has not manifested itself. Do we give up and say we are not healed or do we go on believing? No! Do I still declare that I am healed? Yes! Why? Because the Word of God tells us in Isaiah 53:5 - that with his stripes we are healed. I Peter 2:24 states that by His stripes we were healed. That’s past tense. So that makes it so whether my healing is manifest as soon as I can believe it or not.

Yet, now I a Woman Minister of Faith, find myself recuperating from failed hip implant surgeries that have lasted for over two years, actually a total of four surgeries with little or no success, medically. These surgeries have ultimately left my left leg useless without the aid of a cane or other mechanical device. Does it mean I quit preaching? God forbid. I have preached from a wheelchair, standing while holding to a walker and now holding with one hand to a cane. That’s what God called me to do.

It is difficult for me to stand or sit for long periods of time, so I have spent a lot of time in bed. Not wanting to rely too much on medication, I sometimes try to just lie down for a late afternoon nap or sometimes just to rest. Today I found myself praying as I lay on the bed as I often do. I find it hard these days to get in many positions to pray since I no longer can kneel due to my hip surgeries and this is very frustrating to someone who loves to be on their knees before the Lord. However, I am learning that God can still hear our prayers whether we are sitting, riding, standing or just lying in bed worshipping Him. In the privacy of my bedroom, I can normally pray and meditate undisturbed by anyone or anything.

While I lay there at rest I distinctly heard the knocking on my heart’s door that has become so familiar through the years since I met Jesus Christ, the Lord of Lords, the King of Kings, the Alpha & Omega. I gently heard in my heart the words “Where are you in God’s Time”. I immediately answered the Lord with “That was you Lord”. Clearly it was a message from the heart of God.

I bounded from the bed as fast as I could grab my cane. I made my way to my desk in the dining room where I keep my Bible and the words were leaping at me now. Where are you in God’s Time? I thought Oh My! “Where am I in your time Lord” and what am I to see from this? I grabbed the Note pad and began to write & jot down bits and pieces as the Lord began to describe to me what it meant.

The Morning Time of Moses’ Life:

God took me to the life of Moses. When the Hebrew children were in slavery to the Egyptians there came a time when Pharaoh told the midwives to kill all the baby boys. But being God fearing women, they feared God more than they did Pharaoh. They gave Pharaoh excuses; they told the Egyptians that Hebrew women gave birth very fast. So, Pharaoh found out and made households for the midwives where his people were commanded that all the boy babies be thrown into the river.

But, somehow Moses mother managed to hide him in his father’s house for the space of about three months and then very carefully made the little ark of bulrushes and placed it in the river, with his sister watching over it very carefully, where he would be found by Pharaoh’s daughter. We read of how his own mother becomes his nursemaid. Most children know the story of how he was preserved and raised as an Egyptian, living in Pharaoh’s house, where he had all the good things and the good life that could be had as he grew up as Pharaoh’s grandson. Moses was in the “Morning Hour” of his life, but time for him was about to change.

Exodus 2:11-12 We find an adult Moses now who has began to see the burdens of his own people and actually saw an Egyptian smiting a Hebrew, Moses took the Egyptian’s life and then hid him in the sand. But of course we can be sure our sins will always find us out. Someone knew and Moses was found out. Pharaoh was going to have him killed. Moses fled in fear to the back side of the desert in a place called Midian. There he became a Shepherd, married and had a family. All was going well. At least it seemed like it as he was still in the “Morning Hour of God’s time”. Moses former Grandfather the Pharaoh was now dead and the new replacement was worse than the old one and the Hebrew Children’s life of slavery was worse than it had ever been.

The Noon Day Time of Moses’ Life:

Exodus 3:2 Little did Moses know that The “Noon Day Time of His Life” was approaching and his life was about to be permanently changed. The angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush and he looked and beheld the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. Moses made the right choice when he said I will turn aside and see this great sight, why the bush was not burnt.

Exodus 3:4 And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called him out of the midst of the bush and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here I am. The very next verse God said put off thy shoes Moses, you are standing on Holy Ground.

How often do we find ourselves in the “Noon Day Hour of our Life” finding ourselves being asked by God to do something? Suddenly we think we are too small, too frail, too tiny, too insecure and too insignificant to be able to accomplish anything as big as God is asking us to do.

Well, as you know Moses used every excuse he could think of down to “Who am I”. Have you ever asked God that same question when he asked you to do something? Have you ever said God, Who am I that I should teach? Who am I that I should sing? Who am I that I should preach? Of course we all have. We all had our excuses and some still do. Some folks will never move out of the comfortable, padded pew if God punches them with a knitting needle. They have become saved, satisfied and dignified. They no longer desire the move of God in the church. They just want a little sermonette, go to the nearest steak house for lunch, take an afternoon nap and be too tired to come back for Evening Services.

Well, Moses next excuse was “Who will I tell them sent me”. That was an easy one. God answered “Tell them that “I Am That I AM”: Moses tries once again, but Lord, “how often have you heard that one” “but Lord you know”, you know I can’t talk plain. I stutter and will never make myself understood. The anger of God was kindled against Moses by this time and he said, “Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I know that he can speak well. God further told him that he would speak the words to Moses and be his mouthpiece and Aaron would be to Moses a mouth. Now, this was not God’s original plan. He wanted Moses to be obedient and willing to let God fix the problem. However He still wanted Moses to be the leader of His people in the “Evening Time” of Moses life.

How often God would like to use us just where we are, if we would only be willing and quit putting up all those measly excuses. We can find an excuse for everything we don’t want to do for God. We can stay out of church and blame it on our spouse. We never come out on a Church Work Day, even though we don’t work a public job. We could call Sister or Brother Smith or Jones and check on them, but just can’t seem to find the time around our busy schedule. We can find time to talk on the phone, work on computers, crochet, and play with our animals, play with the children or grandchildren, but let someone else do your work. Lord, there are not enough hours in the day. There are more people coming to that church than just me, Lord!

God help us to be justified in the excuses we give for not doing the Lord’s work on Judgement Day.

“The Evening Time of Moses’ Life”

Now, the next time we find Moses he is over in the “Evening Time of His Life.” God has begun to instruct him to as to a specific plan and it was time to listen well and obey. So, God explains to him that he wants him to go to Pharaoh and to tell him let to His people go. He warned him that Pharaoh would not let them go easily but there would be many things that would have to happen but God would be there to help Moses’ carry out the plan. He caused Moses’ staff to where it could made to be a serpent, he could now put his hand in his bosom and pull it out as white as snow. If these signs were not enough, the staff could turn the river into blood. Moses was pretty well equipped to do the task God had placed before him.

As he met up with Aaron they found it to be just as God had told them, the people were in slavery and Pharaoh was harsh and kept adding to their quota instead of letting the children go as Moses had told him God had instructed him to do. Of course, God had hardened Pharaoh’s heart and it took a lot of plagues before he could see things God’s way. The Egyptians were met with everything from Frogs. Lice, Locust, Hail, Blood in the water, Boils, etc. The final blow was God told Moses the firstborn of every Egyptian would die but instructions were given for the Passover that none of the Hebrew children would die. Then Pharaoh would let the Hebrew children go. God had made Moses like a God to Pharaoh and Aaron like a prophet.

While Moses and the Israelite Children were in the “Evening Hour” in their desert traveling, God gave them a pillar of a cloud to guide them by day and a pillar of fire to guide them at night. We find Pharaoh was still not quite ready to give up, so he made one last stand as he pursued Moses and the Hebrew Children with all the best Army, Horses and Chariots he could muster. They overtook them as they were camping by the sea. When Pharaoh drew nigh, the Children of Israel began to bicker; cry and put blame on Moses. They were afraid, even after all the miracles they had seen God do for them. Moses said unto the people, “Fear ye not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will shew you today. Doesn’t that pitiful bunch sound like the church of today? We can see the mighty miracles God does all around us, but give us one glimpse of Pharaoh and off we go. Moses said the Lord shall fight your fight for you and ye shall hold your peace.

“The Midnight Hour of Moses’ Life:”

We find the ‘Midnight Hour of the life of Moses” a little different as we see the things God has delivered the Hebrew children out of and all the miracles that had been done. God fed them angel food in the desert and gave them water from a rock to drink. But we find in the end because of Moses’ disobedience, he was held back and was not allowed to take the Children of Israel into the Promised Land wherein God had promised them. The “Midnight Hour of Moses’ Life” to me is the saddest part of the “Time of His Life in God’s Time Table” as he didn’t get to enjoy the rewards of his labor as he might have, should he have had the privilege of going over to the Promised Land. Here was a man whom knew God face to face and yet was unable to cross over with the people he had lead out of bondage. Moses’ died on Mount Nebo and was buried in Moah. The Lord buried him and no man unto this day knows where the sepulchre is.

Where are you and I in God’s Time Table? I like to think I am in the “Evening Hour”, closing in on the “Midnight Hour”. I like to think I am only a step away from hearing the “sound of the trumpet” and the Lord to call my name. I like to think I will be ready to see everything that awaits me when I step into the Promised Land. Most of all I want to hear the Lord say well done my good and faithful servant. This message was given to me this day September 23rd by the Spirit of God to uplift the Kingdom of God. I pray that it will bless all that read it and will help us to know just where we are in “God’s Time Table”. Children, time is running out and Jesus is soon to come.
